Philip Pullman writes in the preface of His Dark Materials: “… if you want to write something perfect, write a haiku. Anything longer is bound to have a few passages that don’t work as well as they might.” That’s how I feel with the illustrations of my new game, although my work cannot be compared with his magnificent art. In spite of my best intentions, there are less successful pieces among the illustrations, but fortunately, they emerge the quality of the better ones even if they are placed next to each other. The best pictures have already been displayed in our studio and my husband insists that we should sell the prints after the game is released. I still have two weeks to find out a brilliant and matching game rule. ...and after, vacation is waiting for us! But…I’ve never been a person that can relax by doing nothing; doing nothing makes me nervous and I immediately start stressing out about all the things I could have been done while I was just sitting around wasting tim

Summer • Nyár

We wish very nice weather and relaxing summer holiday for those lucky ones who have finished school! For those who still have a few weeks left, we wish lots of patience and energy until the end! (Marbushka Summer set) Azoknak a szerencséseknek, akiknek véget ért már az iskola, nagyon szép nyarat és jó pihenést kívánunk! Akiknek még van pár hét, azoknak kitartást!!!! (Marbushka Nyári szett)

I’ve started to design a new game again, while we are still waiting for the previous two. The school has ended for many of you, but we have two more weeks left (!), so I have plenty of time to finish the River. In its present state, it still reminds me of a storybook, but the result will be a long line of 18 cards which could be arranged several different ways depending on the size of the play area. It can be longer or shorter as you wish. The rule is getting slowly outlined in my head by the impressions that my family shared with me. Lassan a szabály is

River - the beginning • Folyó - a kezdet

Most of the times I feel lucky to have the chance to test so many styles in my drawings, but it is getting more and more confusing to impersonate different (illustrator) characters. I look forward to the moment when I will discover in my graphics the essence of …something that I am. Of course, the situation would be different if the illustrations would be individual artworks, not “just” games and if the monster of expectations would not threat us from behind. But now, with the River, I have taken a bold step towards artistic games, and all above this: there will be no characters in it just ships, endless landscape and winding river. Very Zen, a very smooth game for kids (and adults) over five. According to my experience, most of the adults prefer this level of difficulty for themselves too. I have to agree with them. Finding out the rule is always exhaustive, so I'll leave it to the end. We planned to refresh our palette this year, which means that I have to design about

Glasshouse • Üvegház

I’ve just finished a new game before the paint would have even dried on the previous one (In The Garden). Every time, I provide new and unexpected technical challenges for the manufacturers and of course for my husband. I'm not doing it on purpose, but somehow I always succeed. Although they did their best and finally solved all the problems we still have to wait a long time for “In The Garden” to be available. The theme of the new game is also related to nature and gardens, although it is more inspired by the botanical garden. There is a fairy tale with it, as always: On the land of the night fairies where the sun never shines, the plants grow in the glasshouse. Lightning bugs take care of them and provide enough light them to grow. Green Giggle, the naughty cat, loves to chase them to the meadow. The night fairies have to rescue the confused little bugs and bring them back to the safe glasshouse in their lanterns, hoping that Green Giggle does not cause more
